Maybe you're wondering what My Little Ponies are, and why this page is dedicated to them. Well..., My Little Ponies were first created by Hasbro in the early 1980s (on Earth, that is. We have always existed in Ponyland). In this form, we are little plastic ponies with brushable manes and tails, with special symbols called brands. We each have distinct brands, personalities, and magic. When Hasbro sold us, we came with different accessories (ribbons, combs or brushes, etc.) and a story telling about our personality. When our humans adopted us, most of the time they let us keep our own personalities and names. Sometimes, though, they forgot who we were and so we got new names and/or personalities. As with all good friends, our personalities became more and more complex as the years went on. Some attributes we gained from other ponies' stories, and some were given to us by our human companions and their friends. Many of us in Karen's herd have personalities like this.
The My Little Pony toy series also had its own TV shows during the `80s, but these went off the air when too many people complained about Hasbro promoting its toys through cartoons.
For a while, there were no new ponies, which we all (at least) were disappointed about, because each new arrival to Karen's Ponyland was the highlight of that day or week. Most of us arrived on special days (Christmases, birthdays, ends of school years, award days), so we all made a huge celebration out of it. Then, the newer residents would come when Karen got back from a trip or something like that, where she or others came across them accidentally. We still welcomed these ponies, but it just wasn't the same as seeing one come out of its cocoon (as Stephanie, Karen's mom, called the plastic packaging). Then, in 1999, Karen announced that she had once again gotten a new pony, straight from the package! We thought she was kidding, until she showed it to us. Her name is Ivy, and she's one of the MLP toys that came out in McDonald's Happy Meals. These are miniatures of the newer ponies, but Karen seems to think they look better than the real versions. I haven't seen the real ones, since she refuses to bring any home, and she doesn't carry me around to stores anymore :( She says they're skinny, though, which I agree they do look funny, what with their swaybacks and all. BTW, Karen, who's typing this (since the keyboard's much too big for my hooves), says you can e-mail her about her opinion of the new MLPs if you want, but it's just her opinion. I'm getting along well with Ivy, Sundance, and Lightheart, but it is weird having ponies who are supposedly older than me (pony age, not toy age!) who are also a lot smaller than I am! It makes it hard to carry on a conversation without seeming to shout!
Then, in 2003, she brought home new ponies that were our size! Well, my momma's size, anyway, because they are adults. The first one that came home has my same name! I didn't like that for a bit, but she's very nice and lets me play with her boom box. Then, some new babies came home, but they don't look like their mommas! I feel sorry for them, especially the one that has two colors of hair. I like playing with my new friends, though!
Denim Blue has joined me in narrating our herd's stories. She's one of my best friends! She has her own page, so please look below for the link and come visit!
The latest excitement around here is Karen's new project. She got the time-consuming idea to put all of us on the Web! *Shakes her head in astonishment* Since this project is gonna take a lot of time, the links to the new pages won't be up until the pages actually work. Please keep coming back to see if we've added something, though. We appreciate the company.
